Rain's a local girl, only child of a single mother from Hanging Hills. Her mother was, by and large, a hippy — Rain did not just grow up as the only child of a single mother, but as one of several children in a larger group of close-knit friends committed to a communal model of living in this individualized era. When as a young child she started manifesting the extreme precociousness of the Reborn, she was lucky enough to have a mother who did not find her disturbing, but rather interpreted this according to a mixture of syncretic occult and spiritual beliefs. She decided they were best staying where they were, out of the hustle and bustle of the bigger twin city, sharing a large piece of land in Crow's Hollow with like-minded men and women. She was largely home-schooled save for a few years at the local high school, and following that, she enrolled in a few classes at the local community college. She had no dreams of higher education, though; while she did go on to earn an associate’s degree, it was geared towards small business entrepreneurship, and her classes coincided with an apprenticeship program for aspiring bakers. She's gotten herself together to open a small specialty bakery, and she's damn proud.
