Self-respect is a question of recognizing that anything worth having has a price.
~ Joan Didion

xxxxxThe world has always been her playground. From her earliest memories, Paz lived out of her beloved celestial backpack while her family moved around from place to place. No one location could hold them for too long. For many people this might wear down on the soul, but this wasn't so for the Romeros. Every new place was a new adventure, a new chance to make new friends, and share new experiences. Growing up on the road, Paz made many pen pals and kept travel journals to record every moment. One of her most prized possessions was an old polaroid camera that used to belong to her mother. Whenever anyone asked where they were from, her parents would say they were from the earth, but technically speaking, Fallcoast, Maine is where they originated from.
xxxxxWhen they would return to Fallcoast, Paz spent most of her time with her grandmother in her apothecary shop. She learned about plants and herbs used in healing and even assisted with putting together orders for customers to help her grandmother's business. While she learned the ins and outs of running the small business, Paz soon realized she was becoming her grandmother's apprentice for something bigger. There are always tales of pagan witches who concoct potions in their little huts out on the fringe of society and many would assume her grandmother, Xiomara, was such a witch. They would be mistaken. From a young age, whenever Paz would spend time with her grandmother, Xiomara would offer little lessons on Shamanistic rituals. The excuse was a way to help the young Paz deal with certain things she was experiencing. A point of contention between her mother and grandmother was whether or not Paz had the ability to 'see' things others usually could not. It wasn't that her mother, Luz, did not ascribe to the possibility. Luz was also trained in these rituals by her mother; it was just bad timing.
xxxxxThe first eight or so years of Paz's life, her father was not very present in her life and her mother assumed it was the absence of a parent that was the cause of Paz's issues. Despite being raised by a woman who made her own medicines and never relied on modern science, Luz was trying to branch away from her mother's teachings. This is partially the reason for their constant moving around from place to place. When the night terrors no longer only afflicted Paz's slumber but her waking hours, Luz brought her daughter back home to Fallcoast. This is when Paz learned of her family secrets, including why it was so important for her father to be mostly away.
xxxxxFor many, learning these secrets at a young age could be overwhelming. Paz took many of the things Xiomara told her for face value. Her grandmother always answered any question the girl might have had for her and never sugar coated anything. As time went on, there were more questions and answers. For most of Paz's teenage years, she wondered (and waited) for the change. She battled with the feelings of excitement and fear and for some time, this anticipation caused her to miss out on many things before her focus was misplaced. Not one to usually meddle in the affairs of others, Xiomara took notice of her granddaughter's behavior. "You can't sit around here, wasting your life away, in fear or anticipation or something that may or may not happen. You need to take the reins and live each day as if it were your last."
xxxxxThose words changed Paz completely. She embraced her wild and free spirited nature from her youth and set off on an adventure that took her to the four corners of the world. She took odd jobs just to have enough cash for food and shelter but all her life's belongings were held in her backpack. She held onto her secrets of the Uratha to herself and after a while, her obsession with possibly going through the change waned. It wasn't until after she left Fallcoast for her solo tour that Paz began to notice others strange reactions to her. Usually this would occur after an intense physical experience. There are many writhing bodies at music festivals and at first, Paz assumed it was all the drugs and just the euphoria of the moment, but this proved false when she became a sought after companion.

xxxxxSun-kissed and wind caressed, Paz is a woman of the gentle earth. Her long blonde hair is often left loose and at the mercy of the elements. Some days the waves that cascade and tumble to the middle of her back are more fluid while other days bounce with a playful coil. Her sweet face is framed by dark blonde brows which bear a slight arch to their natural shape. Her nose is long and slender and sits fairly center upon her face, between her luminous hazel eyes. Her mouth is full and inviting, prone to smiles and fits of laughter. She is petite, but not terribly too short. At 5 feet 3 inches, Paz appears taller than she is simply based on the fact that she is never sitting still long enough for one to take notice. Her lust for life has been said to be infectious and addictive much like the woman herself.

Things of Note

  • Paz's Tell - As a wolfblooded, Paz has a certain quality about her that is alluring. The boon of this tell is that both characters gain a point of willpower. The backfire is that next time the other person is around Paz, and they have the opportunity to engage in the same activity they previously engaged in, they must do so or lose a point of willpower no matter how inconvenient. As a rule, Paz knows this about herself and is very conscientious about the effects and those around her and does not take this lightly. A simple hug in greeting where sweat isn't exchanged will not cause the Tell to take effect.
  • Peaceful Dove Apothecary - She is the current owner of the Peaceful Dove Apothecary.

RomanQ09.jpg Roman - "You're as warm as a glass of brandy, and honey, I'd stay stoned on your love all the time."

Ride or Die
