The many symbols of Thule
The Thule Society arose in Germany to investigate the occult around the world. They desire knowledge above all else and once obtained it is analysed and disseminated to the nth degree. Unfortunately, the Thules have been tarred with the brush of Nazism due to some misconceptions about what being Aryan meant. Thules were never Nazis...not as a group at least...and they were hunted down by the SS just like any other occult group.
Now the Thules are all over the world investigating local and international incidents to discover what is really happening. They will work with other groups because everyone has knowledge that is worth learning and by being involved they will have direct access to the events. The founders still live in Germany and they are at the center of all information received and disseminated. It is to them and through them that everything flows.
Playing Loyalists Of Thule
- Recruitment into the Thules is usually because the PC is atoning for something they or a member of their family have done.
- Thules are usually secretive about what they belong to. They are happy to share information but not so happy to share the name of the Compact they belong to. They hope that the knowledge they dispense will make up for the Thule reputation if they are ever found out.
- Though they lean towards the intellectual side of Hunting they are not completely useless in a fight. One faction (The Penitents) are even devoted to getting their hands dirty in the pursuit of first-hand knowledge.
- The original founders are available to be used as 5 dot Mentors with Staff permission.
The Loyalists of Thule IC
There are rumors that the Custodes_Fontis are in town.
Notes
Becoming A Loyalist
Becomings can be quite broad in subject and motivation. Perhaps the player can discover a previously unknown relative they need to make amends for or just stumble into the darkness or their keen academic mind could be of interest, and noticed, by existing Loyalists.
Loyalists are a secretive group so for a PC to be accepted they should demonstrate an ability to be discrete yet also helpful. They are not interested in anyone with a far right wing (i.e. Nazi) outlook on life. They're still trying to shake that preconception. Assessment scenes by existing Loyalist PCs or Ilsa (NPC head) would be beneficial to their recruitment.
Loyalists are also quite accepting of Mortal+ PCs so Becomings for these characters could focus around their powers.
Theme Song
Endowment
Unearthed Secrets (1 to 5 dots)
House Rules
Loyalists of Thule accept Psychics and Thaumaturges into their ranks.
Factions
IMPORTANT: To be a member of a faction you must have at least one dot in the skill that the specialty applies to. People in that faction automatically get the relevant specialty because all of their operatives are expected to need it through the work they do. Therefore, since you cannot have a specialty without a dot in the skill attached, PCs should have the relevant skill when selecting a faction.
