Overview

xxxxxA native of Boston by way of the Mediterranean, Ian Cross's early life was a testament to the meaninglessness of high achievement. No matter how lofty the achievement it never satisfied: it never gave him any answers, it never helped make sense of his life, it never brought a moment of peace. It took the Iron Watchtower to teach him the universe has no inherent meaning, there are no answers, there is no sense, there will be no peace. Now on the other end of his Awakening, he understands the truth: the fact the universe lacks all of these things is what makes it so important we create them.

Young and old, gather 'round (yeah)
Black and white, red and green (yeah, funky)
The funkiest man you've ever seen
Tell you what his name is

Bruce Cockburn ~ The Trouble With Normal

Strikes across the frontier and strikes for higher wage
Planet lurches to the right as ideologies engage
Suddenly it's repression, moratorium on rights
What did they think the politics of panic would invite?
Person in the street shrugs -- "Security comes first"
But the trouble with normal is it always gets worse
