The public story:
A young man washed ashore on the lower Hudson River, complete with blunt head trauma and retrograde amnesia.
After a few weeks of observation he was released, and made his way to Ithaca NY. Where he sought employment as a janitor at Cornell University.
It wasn’t long before he’d wrangled a scholarship, showing excellent aptitudes for an apparent early 20-something.
At Cornell he majored in history and competed on the wrestling team.
After graduation he pursued working at the NOAA’s Office of Law Enforcement. Gaining a post in the Fish and Wildlife division.
While preparing for his posting to Fallcoast, his research uncovered a genetic relationship between him and the local Wagner family. This intrigued him enough to petition an official name change to Wagner.
A semblance of truth:
Reuben is a centuries old sailor and spirit entity, Purified of mortal flesh hundreds of years ago, his previous time in the non-spirit world ended during World War II.
Returning to Earth in the new millennium he’s discovered some descendants of his mortal bloodline are living in the Fallcoast region and has come here to see just what they’re about.
