xxxxxSammi was one of those popular girls in school. Then she flunked out of William and Mary and ended up dancing at a strip club to pay the rent. After a couple years of living from week to week, one of her regulars Embraced her. Within the first few months of her new life, Sammi ended up on the wrong end of a blackmail scheme. A couple of mafia hit-men died, and she moved up the coast to Maine.

xxxxxSamantha Aubrey Hutson was born in one of Atlanta’s more exclusive suburbs. Her parents were rich and she lacked for nothing. Not the brightest in her class, Sammi got by on good looks and a good memory for details. Cheerleader and gymnast, she was one of the popular set and the picture of ‘entitlement’. Sammi had a tendency to look down on people who had less than she did, or those who were ‘outside’ of her popular clique. And if people disliked her for it, she really didn’t care. After all, her important friends still liked her, right?
xxxxxAfter graduation Sammi’s parents bought her way into William and Mary, where she was accepted on academic probation with an ‘undecided’ major. Sometime during her freshman year, Sammi’s world fell apart. Her father was indicted for fraud and the family’s assets were frozen. Sammi was out of money. Following the advice of a dorm-mate, Sammi took a job as an exotic dancer at a club near the military base. She flunked out of school and had to leave the dorm. Her college friends didn’t concern themselves with a spoiled rich girl whose money ran out, so Sammi had to get a place of her own. The club manager rented her a one-room dive in exchange for a significant percentage of her tips, and the vicious downward spiral started.
xxxxxDuring this time, the only bright spot in Sammi’s life was one of her regular clients, an enigmatic man named Vincent. He was old-fashioned and quite respectful of her, even when ‘private dances’ became ‘turning tricks’. One evening after she performed for him, Vincent offered her a way out. Freedom. He promised that she would never be dependent on others again. At first Sammi was suspicious, and then Vincent told her entire life’s story; including things she had never shared with anyone. She was hooked, and agreed. His only reaction was to smile, tip her more than his usual amount, and leave the club. After Sammi left the club that evening, he took her in the alley and turned her into a vampire like him.
xxxxxThen Sammi blackmailed the wrong person, someone of significance in the East Coast underworld. When two mafia toughs caught her in the dressing room after her set to ‘talk’, Sammi had little choice but to defend herself. She got rid of the bodies, but she knew that there would be more. Sammi had to leave town and go far away. Traveling alone up the Coast was easy with her new skills, even after only a couple of months. Sammi stopped in Maine, at a quiet little town called Fallcoast, to settle down again.
