Kinsman, Sarah, Shyla

9 December, 2017

The show before Finals Week.

Location

St. John's University

<SJU Radio> DJ Witch Sarah says, "Good evening, Fallcoast!!! It's snowing! How romantic is that? It's also Finals Week. How unromantic is that? So, many of you will be studying hard so it'll be up to me, Sarah, and my lovely co-host, Shyla, to keep you entertained. After that nasty storm last weekend, I guess snow is better. Sun would be better still but we get what we get. To start us all off, let's begin with everyone's favorite ode to masturbation. If you're too busy to leave your room for company, you can always accompany yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFq4E9XTueY

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla 's giggly voice jumps on the radio, "The great Cyndi Lauper with "She Bop" and call me naive, but I had no idea that it was about masturbation! I guess with that in mind and looking at the video, I guess I can see it. And yes, boo to finals, although I guess I did all the studying that I'm going to do, so whatever happens... happens. If you don't hear from me next semester, that means I've failed and got kicked out of good ol' SJU! Anyway, just wanted to give a shout out to someone new here in the studio, an audio engineering student, Scott, and he'll be helping out with the hardware and sof... what? SARAH THAT IS NOT FUNNY! I just mean that he'll be plugging things into st.. You know what? I give up. And girls (and boys)" She whispers into the microphone, "He's a total hottie, teehee." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUoe7cf0HYw

Shyla is sitting there, with a soda pop before her, spinning her chair one way, then the next, but not 360 as that would mess with the wires connected to her headphones. When Scott pops in, she stops short, almost flinging herself out of her chair. She points accusingly at him, "HEY! You're late!"

<SJU Radio> DJ Witch Sarah says, "That was Taylor Swift with 'Gorgeous'. There was a time when Shyla used to play that kind of song for me, but these days (sniffle), it's for our new engineer, Scott. You may have seen Scott hanging out at the uni bar...or hanging over a bench outside of it. He's a party boy, so I...umm...I don't think that goes in there, Scott. Anyway, though it's not our final show of the year yet...though close...I guess we can play some of our favorites of the year. One of mine is this one. There's just something about random screaming that makes me laugh. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvrZJ5C_Nwg

Kinsman smiles apologetically and waits for Sarah to get off the mic before speaking. "Would you believe I was attacked by a rabid pack of drunk women from a sorority looking for a male stripper?" he says while taking off his coat and hanging it up somewhere useful. He's got on just a form fitting white T-shirt tucked in to a pair of faded blue jeans. "I'll get on the systems and make sure you both sound your best!"

"Nope...I wouldn't believe that at all" Sarah smiles sweetly to Kinsman as the record plays. "Attacked by them because you started stripping in front of them while /you/ were drunk...that I'd believe" she smirks. "We haven't been going for long."

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla 's giggling has turned to all out laughter now, "Yes, I totally forgot about that song, with that old guy screaming in the middle. You are correct, that is one of the funnier songs out there. Oh it is Kirin J Callinan with "Big Enough" featuring Alex Cameron, Molly Lewis, and Jimmy... Barnes. And don't say it's almost the last show, I'm going to start to pout and wars start when I pout. Or would that be natural disasters? Whatever. The devastation!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-njAuS7eTQ

Shyla laughs, dropping her head back and looking at Kinsman upside down as she keeps her chair moving from side to side, "Yeah, what Sarah said. Who was the one running around practically naked at the Halloween meetup? Huh?" She pauses a bit, just realizing that she's not the most innocent one at that event either. She leans forward and quickly finds something very important to mess with on her microphone buttons.

Kinsman smirks as he plops into his church at the mixing station with all the computers. "Hey now... I was not drunk then nor now. In fact, I don't know who keeps making these rumors that I am some kind of wild party animal. I've gone to like two parties and both times I ended up with my clothes still on at the end of the night!"

<SJU Radio> DJ Witch Sarah says, "That was Bridgit Mendler and 'Hurricane'. Which is what we expected the town to look like after last weekend but I guess we got a reprieve. I have four exams this week. Four! Though one of them is practical...so I'll practically do it. I was perusing the songs of the world, as I do, and I found this one by a favorite of ours and I swear the guy in it looks like Professor Ambroise. What he will look like in a few years anyway. What do you think, Shyla? Watch the clip on your phone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fadQz8Kl-jw

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla says, "Hmmm, yeah, I can kinda see the resemblance. I mean, I get distracted by how beautiful Kylie Minogue is, even made that horrible "Street Fighter 2" movie almost bearable. Oh and that last song was "On a Night Like This" by, again, Kylie Minogue. And, Sarah, I have 4 exams too! I guess since our Major's departments are close enough in that they all decide to give those exams around the same time. EVIL. At any rate, I feel for all you peeps studying out there. If you see me on campus, give me a wave and I'll give you a free kiss! Well, ok, an air-kiss, but that is still a good deal!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv5ehgaYODY

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla says, "And that was "Two High" by Moon Taxi... and no, your ears do not deceive you and Sarah didn't suddenlly lose her voice somehow. Give me an 'S'! Give me a 'Y'! Give me a 'L'! Give me a 'A'! What does that spell? Surprise, it's me, Shyla! *ahem* At any rate, she had to go out and take care of something, but she will. be. right. back. So just bear with me! Here, I'm going to throw you another song. By the way, request lines are open like always, and if anyone want to call in to talk about exams or anything interesting, please do so! Don't let me try to pilot a boat on my own, I'm liable to hit some sort of large ice cube!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2hawbp5XT4"

Kinsman grins at Shyla. "Can I have a free kiss?"

Shyla turns her chair so she is facing Kinsman and with both hands presses to her mouth she blows him a kiss!"

Kinsman grins at the airborne kiss and goes back to monitoring all the hardware for maximum output and clarity.

<SJU Radio> DJ Witch Sarah says, "Shyla...did you misspell your name on air? Again? I'm back, please don't all cheer at once. Or at all? That was another Bridget Mendler track, 'Ready or Not'. One of Shyla's favorites. Hey, Shyla, do you remember that hockey guy who was going to do a sport report every week? We haven't heard jack from him. Or jill. They mustn't be doing very well. Get up and dance! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYbP-fkiJ0o

Shyla does, indeed, get up and dance. She bounces out of her chair, which because it has wheels, go flying off in one direction while Shyla goes the other. The girl shakes her hips one way, then the other, she's pretty good at this! And... yes, she's doing what that guy on the video (if people watch the video) is doing. Spinning in one place. A lot of arm gesticulations. And pointing, oh she loves pointing! Then poof back into her chair... once she right sides it up again, of course.

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla says, "Peking Duk! with "Say My Name, B-" no no, there's no fourth word there. And YES I MISPELLED MY NAME, SARAH. Yeesh, you'd think people don't forget their names nowadays, or something. BUT BUT I must admit, Sarah, after ALL this time broadcasting, I don't think you've messed up a song before, well, cept that one time, but this is the SECOND time. *Ahem* Let me rewind the tape.." And she does some sort of sound affect that is supposed to be the sound of a tape being rewound, then she says in a different voice (badly done) "That was another Bridget Mendler track, 'Ready or Not'"" Then back to her normal Shyla voice, "Nope Nope! That was Olivia Newton John with "Twist of Fate". But that's ok, they sound almost identical." And with that you hear the Shyla evil giggle (tm), "I still luff you." she whispers quickly before putting on another song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3EG4olrFjY"

<SJU Radio> DJ Witch Sarah says, "My bad. That was indeed Olivia Newton-John earlier. My screen was showing me the wrong song. I am sure that had nothing to do with our new engineer fiddling with things he shouldn't. I shall ignore the devious smile on his handsome face. That /last/ song was Olly Murs and 'Dance With Me Tonight'. I urge all of you out there, if you haven't seen Shyla dance, rectify that gap in your knowledge. It is an incredible experience. No one can point like Ditzy DJ. And you know I love you too, Shy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBkHHoOIIn8

Sarah has to get into this dancing too...though perhaps not as athletic as her roomie. More seductive grinding. Which Shyla is damn good at too. "Are you dancing, Scott? Or just gonna sit there with a something dangling in your hand.

Kinsman smirks at Sarah. "My feet are dancing under the desk. Besides the view is better from here and I can make sure things are going wrong... and then get blamed for it all... then fired and no longer be able to watch two hot girls dancing just for me."

Shyla just watches Sarah with obvious appreciation, a smile on her lips while she leans forward and follow every deliciously sensual motion of her best friend. "Wow, that's amazing how you do that, makes my heart go all a-flutter."

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla says, "Do you still feel it? Because I am, and it's the song, "Feel it Still" by Portugal. The Man, and yes, the group's name is exactly like that "Portugal. The Man" Didn't realize you could have a name of group with a period in the middle of it. By the By, Sarah was dancing to this song and woah, talk about someone turning on the heat in the room here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKNcuTWzTVw

<SJU Radio> DJ Witch Sarah says, "That was Marina and the Diamonds with 'How to be a Heartbreaker'. I do love me some Marina. Though if you've seen the video, I don't think any of the guys in it are interested in women. Too pretty. Like Scott here. I may have had a little dance but it was in now way as hot as Shyla. Yowzah! As they say in the classics. With that Marina song talking about counting rules, there's really only one song to play after that. And both Shyla and I have this singer as screen savers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2qgadSvNyU

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla laughs, "Yes, definitely the song that needed to follow Marina's, rules and all. Thank goodness I never had the need to follow those rules! And Sarah is right, we both have her as our screen savers, why wouldn't you? I sometimes don't do anything at the computer just so I could have it pop on, haha. Ok, usually I never put on two songs with the same singer, but I'll make an exception here. And I strongly suggest watching the video of this song, because there is one thing you could say about Taylor. Like her or not, her videos are always top notch!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIft-t-MQuE

<SJU Radio> DJ Witch Sarah says, "That was Taylor Swift with 'Ready for It'. A Joseph Khan film...though he's never made a film longer than a song. It's nice to see video directors being famous again. Not like the Golden Age where people like Russel Mulcahy and Steve Barron invented whole genres and influenced film. Created the MTV look of smoky lighting and all that. Not really the same these days. Taylor is Ghost in the Shell - a film influencing a video clip rather than the other way round in the 1980s. And why have I drifted into Film Studies? No idea. Here's an old school song with an old school video if you want to look it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M43wsiNBwmo

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla says, "Duran Duran with "Wild Boys". They are so awesome back in their time, apparently, that they had to use their name twice! And yes, that old school video is pretty awesome, I must admit, kinda reminds me of "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome" for some reason. So far most of these songs are of people dancing, which, I guess isn't surprising considering the medium. Here's another, literal dance, song. I DARE you not start beebopping to this, even a little." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkCyfBibIbI"

<SJU Radio> DJ Witch Sarah giggles softly. "They were named after a character in Barbarella, Shyla. Speaking of. I should watch that film again soon. That was pretty awesome. The dolls with the sharp teeth. Anyway. That was Meghan Trainor and 'Better When I'm Dancin' - which is a pretty wise thing to say. And sorry, girls, Scott has had to leave though if you hit the quad now you may be able to catch him. In honor of him, listen to this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYSrS9vpVIY

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla really needs to find a way to keep herself from losing herself to laughter when she is on air... or maybe not, it might be part of her charm. At any rate, after a good 10 seconds of her giggling like a loon, she finally talks, "That was "Male Stripper" by Man 2 Man. Good choice, Sarah! But really, we shouldn't be picking on him so much, I feel kinda bad." A slight moment of silence, "No? Ok, well, as the newbie here at the studio, I guess it is expected to get some bit of ribbing." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuCZQT_Am-4

<SJU Radio> DJ Witch Sarah says, "Of course we can make fun of him. That's what boys are for. Just kidding. If you're listening, Scott, we love you. And if you're listening, why aren't you here working. That was Piano by Ariana Grande. She's a cutie too. I hope she bounces back from that attack at her concert. But enough of that talk. We have exams to do this week and we need to think clear. So let's wrap up the show with some happy songs. And congratz to Australian for making same sex marriage legal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEhutIEUq8k

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla says, "That is definitely a happy song! Mika with "We Are Golden", which... I've never heard before, believe it or not. So thank you for that, Sarah, I've added it to my list of new (for me) music. Now I'm scrambling around for happy music, like, pure, unadulterated, happy music. I couldn't find one off the cuff, but I'll just put on one I like, hehe. And everyone studying hard out there, good luck on your exams... focus hard and do your best... and if you find yourself alone, riding in the green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium, and you're already dead! Oh wait, sorry, wires crossed somewhere..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GBT37_yyzY"

<SJU Radio> DJ Witch Sarah says, "That was Ingrid Michaelson with 'Girls Chase Boys'. Do they? Well, I guess it takes all sorts. I agree with Shyla. Good luck with your exams. Do the best you can. Don't panic. Don't fret. That helps nothing. And I'll leave you with something bouncy. I like it at least. Goodnight from me and goodnight from my awesome co-presenter, Shyla. We love you all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmJxeysqiAY
