Sarah, Shyla Caller: Leslie Requests: Reiz

19 November, 2016

Thanksgiving is almost upon us!

Location

St. John's University

<SJU Radio> Sarah says, "Hello, Fallcoast! It is that time of the week. Time for fun, shenanigans, cool music, prize giveaways and all the fun of the fair. But if you can't find all that, then come listen to SASS! I'm Sarah, as always, and my sexy co-host Shyla is here as always. It will be Thanksgiving soon so why don't you call in and tell us what you're thankful for. You know the number and the twitter tag so don't be shy! For our first song...have this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXQ6QNLcJL8

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla hums to the song as it fades out, "That was the Veronicas with "On Your Side"... Gosh, I remember when they did that song years ago, I was a kid. What was that song title, Sarah? At any rate, did you see the video for that song? Wow, Ruby Rose... woo! Gotta fan myself from that, even if that video was a bit.. dramatic. And yes Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and I could give you all a guess what (or who) I'm thankful for. Anyway, to pull away from drama, here's a very UNdramatic song. Enjoy! Or cry in the corner from the cheesiness..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HR4hp_-kSI

<SJU Radio> Sarah says, "That was pretty cool, Shyla. Just the kind of thing we needed. Is it called 'Numa Numa'? No idea who sings it though but yay they did! You heard Shyla everyone. If you can guess what, or who, she is thankful for then you get a prize. You better write it down so the listeners don't think you changed your mind. Speaking of prizes, we still have a music professor to be our slave. We should do that soon. But keeping it light and fluffy, it's time for this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMP-JqFQ_l4

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla is giggling, "Oh my, "Boom Boom Boom I want you in my Room"... I think? From the Vengaboys who I haven't heard of in a very long time! And yes, we do have that music professor... and that socialite? What was her name again? Oh don't say it on air, SARAH! Gosh!" Ok, it is doubtful Sarah the Responsible would actually even hint at saying that person's real name on-air, but hey. Shyla. "And what's with this BOOM BOOM thing? You know what this reminds me of...?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BRhuVUanGE

<SJU Radio> Sarah says, "That was 'Boom Boom Boom' and in brackets 'Let's Go Back To My Room'. I saw Paul Lekakis in concert really. He must be in his fifties but that body is still pretty fine. He was the only artist at the line up that played to tape but, hey, it is still an awesome song and it went for about ten minutes. Oh...we have a caller. It's our favorite paranormal huntress...Leslie!!" A pause. "Not her real name. Maybe. Are you there, Leslie?"

<SJU Radio> Creepy Ghost Lady Leslie says, "I am so here, loud and clear! How are you girls tonight?"

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla jumps on, a bit breathless as if she went to get something on the other side of the room and realized that she had to respond to something Toute Suite! "Oh! Hi Leslie! I know *I* am doing fine, just hanging out... here... on a Saturday night.." she pauses for a moment, then cheerfully, "... which is GREAT because we're entertaining all you fine folks! SO Leslie, what brings you on air this week? Found another ghost or 10?"

<SJU Radio> Creepy Ghost Lady Leslie says, "Actually it has been a little slow around town which is good and bad. Seems like everything that bumps in the night has gone home for the holidays too now that Halloween is over. I haven't been able to listen to you guys for like 2 weeks given my work load! I was starting to have withdraws! I am burning the midnight oil in my office tonight. It's cold and lonely here and I am missing my baby of which I am so very, very thankful for. I was wondering you could play me a song tonight dedicated to her? I'd like to hear the cover version of Missing You by Alison Krauss With John Waite?"

<SJU Radio> Sarah asks, "No hottie bikini model to snuggle up with, Leslie? That sucks. And if all the monsters have gone on holiday, how does that explain those strange moans in our room in the middle of the night...actually...umm...forget I said that. Here's your song!! I'm sure she'll be back in your arms soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plFRyYVDw7I "

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla 's voice sounds all full of sympathy, she could actually be pouting, "Awwww, that is a sweet song for what I must assume is a sweet girl. You hear that, Bikini Girl? You're lucky to have Ghost TA out there Missing You so much!" She then whispers right into the mic, "They are actually singing "I ain't Missing You At All... but they doth protest too much... Shhh!" Then louder, "Hey, I have a joke! No come back, it's funny! My ex-wife misses me... but her aim is getting better!" *crickets* " Aim. Getting Better. Because, you know.. play on wor-oh forget it, here's a damn song." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewRjZoRtu0Y

<SJU Radio> Sarah says, "That was MIA with Paper Planes. Not sure if that was a reference to humor being MIA with Shyla's joke. I kid! Shyla is awesome with the joke telling...and I'm sure she'll start any minute now. Here's one - My dog used to chase people on a bike a lot. It got so bad, finally I had to take his bike away." Sarah taps the microphone. "Is this thing on? Obviously we can't tell the real dirty jokes on air but maybe we can text them to you. Excuse me while I play a song that /may/ be older than my joke - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikMiQZF-mAY

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla whistles that last song now, "I've never heard that song, but damn, it's really catchy. I love it! Hey doesn't that lead guy kinda look like he could play a Doctor from the Doctor Who series? Heck, some of the instrumentals do sound eerily familiar... OH, that was Slade with "Run Runaway"." Now her voice starts to pick up an even higher tempo, an obvious indicator of the girl's rising excitement, "And and and, we got a text!" Ok, maybe she shouldn't be so flabergasted by such a thing, "It's a dedication from "Anonymous". Hey, where did that word "Anonymous" come from, anyway? Probably some crazy Latin thing. Bor-reeng. Oh, the dedication from Anon is for Reiz, the song is... Key to Her Ferrari, by the Great and Only Thomas Dolby! So Reiz, this song... whichijustfoundonyoutubeandneverheardbefore, is for you!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejedQA3KPzQ

<SJU Radio> Sarah says, "It's Greek actually, Fluffkins. From the Greek for 'Nameless'. Anthropology student for the win! Wow, Thomas Dolby. That's a good call, Anonymous. Hey...do you think it was actually the organisation that requested that song, Shyla? Are we going to be hacked? Better delete those pics of Mr Hardinger at the Astronomy Students Ball. Would hate for them to get out. But, seriously, coming as the solar system and then getting confused why people might freak out where you put the Moon. Not thinking ahead, Mr Hardinger. Speaking of worlds - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRvGZffXhfk

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla says, "Well! I have absolutely no idea what you meant by all that, Sarah. What I DO understand, however, is that I like ATC and their song "All Around The World"! Ah, the 1990s how I remember it... not so well, actually. I wonder why? Oh wait, it's because I was a BABY at the time. But hey, why stop there? Want to go back a bit more? A time when maybe all around the world is too close to home? How about we leave the planet altogether... but... with a SHYLA TWIST!!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAg5KjnAhuU"

<SJU Radio> Darwin says, "That was 'The Final Countdown' by...umm...I haven't seen that many consonants in my life. Short version, a kazoo version of a Europe song with rocking ukelele. And that says everything that needs to be said about our show. Don't forget you can call up with your requestst and also to let us know what you're going to be thankful for over Thanksgiving. And guess what, or who, Shyla is thankful for. While you ponder the imponderables. Time to rock out and drink!" Pause. "In a responsible manner." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7kJRGPgvRQ

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla laughs, "Well, my latest song is ridiculous, but it does seem that you decided to match my hand and then raise it with "Vodka" by... is that Carp... no... Korpiklaani? I keep on expecting Leprechauns to jumps out of nowhere during that song." There's a pause to show she is actually waiting, "...aaaaaaand nope, none are around right now, but believe me, this is like a mating call for them little buggers. But since we are talking about Celtic music, here's another song from that part of the world." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89NjEeHku8o

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla 's voice comes back, "Yes, yes, I know, it's great, right? "Drunken Lullabies" by Floggy Molly, which might be a song played a few times tonight at the Fallcoast bar scene. I mean, I haven't been to many bars until recently, most of my high school career was... well, there was no drinking. And after? Well, okay, I guess I'm not that different from others' experiences when it comes to shedding one's skin and go, totally, wild. And what happens after going on a wild partying and drinking bender? Why, naturally there's only one logical next step..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5U5Y4hSWn0

<SJU Radio> Sarah says, "That was Bloodhound Gang and 'Do It Like They Do On the Discovery Channel'. How exactly is that, Shyla? Yes, I'm back! Just had to make a little trip somewhere no one needs to know about. Hey, Shyla, did you hear about those body parts found at the abandoned amusement park? Pretty creepy, right? And no one is calling in or tweeting Shyla's thankfulness. Is it that difficult? More music. So we've had the drinking, the watching Discover channel so what comes next...I don't know any songs about the guy leaving and the girl sleeping in the wet spots. Oh wait...I do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUYaosyR4bE

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla 's cheerful voice returns, "Sarah's back! Thank goodness, I was dying here! And that was Lily Allen singing "Not Fair".... and indeed it isn't fair. Guys, stop being jerks! Bad!" There's a pause, "And if you can't imagine what I'm doing right now, I'm shaking my finger at you accusingly. That is if you are one of these guys. If not? Well, this wasn't for you! Oh, and what comes after such terrible treatment? Well, I'll let you know what I would be singing..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjIFkVF6mi4

<SJU Radio> Sarah says, "That was 'F You' by The Sockapellas. Am I allowed to say that word on the radio?" A pause. "Yes, yes I can say 'Sockapellas' on the radio. That was quite an interesting version of a compassionate song about mankind's hope for understanding. So, Shyla, what will you be thankful about? I don't think we're going to get an answer from our listeners...listener. Here's one for our new president elect...not political. Honest. I just like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdYGQ7B0Vew

<SJU Radio> Ditzy DJ Shyla says, "My, I think you've played that song before... does that mean your seemingly inexhaustible amount of songs is not so infinite, Sarah? But I must admit, it's a bit more fitting right now. Boys and Girls, that was "Party Like a Russian" by Robbie Williams... who I doubt is actually Russian! And what am I thankful for? Well, I'm pretty sure everyone knows because it is SO obvious, and they figured why bother calling in about it, right? Here, I did write it down, so, I'll just pass it over to you...And here's a random song." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8R048sqs8BM

<SJU Radio> Sarah says, "That was 'I Don't Wanna Dance' by Hey Monday. Let me have a look at what Shyla wrote." A pause. "Awww...that's so sweet. Well if you didn't already know then who am I to tell you what it says. And, yes, I have played that song before but we need to get the word out. Do you think any other radio station in this country plays what we play? Looking at my watch I see it is time I remember I don't have one and to check my phone for the time. So just a couple more songs before we go. Thanks for listening everyone and have a good Thanksgiving. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1RFErLRn2M

<SJU Radio> Sarah says, "Shyla has just slipped away so I'll close out the show for tonight. Thanks for listening. And here it is...the song you've all been waiting for. Because it means we'll stop talking. Good night! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HhR7zKgRSs
