Fallcoast County Fire Department

xxxxxThree stations provide Fire and EMS protection for the citizens of Fallcoast County. The stations are located strategically throughout the area, with heavy wildland fire support.

History of the FCFD from the FFD & HHFD

xxxxxThe FFD was founded in 1901. The first station to arrive was the central station. An engine was the first in service, followed by a ladder truck and tanker. Next the city put up the Moosetown Fire Station to deal with the heavier fireload of the docks, including ship fire support. A third station was in consideration when the vote for county consolidation created a new district.

xxxxxFounded the same year was the Hanging Hills Fire Department, the original station was on the east end. It consisted of two engines, a tanker and later a ladder. Eventually with the needs of the county and the forestry department for wildland fire suppression, another station was put out by the FDR Reservoir. Originally mostly tankers and jeeps to provide manpower, tools, and water. The original station was shut down as the new Country District came to pass.

xxxxx As time passes, and needs grow, and funding changes. Both agencies were hit hard in the budget. Volunteer hours shrank while manpower hour needs increased. In order to afford becoming a combination Paid and On-Call Fire Service, the County votes to consolidate saving the taxpayers a very large amount of money in the process, as well as providing the needed manpower.

The department currently operates Multiple Ladder Trucks, Several Tankers & Engines. Along with Advanced Life Support Ambulances, the FCFD also has specialty units in Water Fire & Rescue, Wilderness/Forest Rescue, HAZMAT, and Heavy Rescue. FCFD also provides Code Enforcement for Fire & Housing Inspections a Fire Prevention Division, Fire Department Administration, and a Joint Communications Division including Police, Fire and EMS dispatch. With these resources the fire department provides service to the businesses and residents throughout the 1424 square mile coverage area.

We are also able to provide emergency fuel oil for furnaces. Several officers of FFD are deputy forest fire wardens and will issue brush and campfire burning permits if conditions are suitable.

Requirements to be a Firefighter

Requirements for All Personnel

  • You must be at least 18 years old to be a firefighter in Maine
  • Firefighters in the state of Maine must have a high school diploma or GED.

  • Firefighters go through intense physical exertion and are required to be in peak physical condition. Physical tests are a big part of firefighter training, and those whose fail to meet conditioning standards will not be employed by a fire station.
  • Players cannot have PCs in more than one Law faction, except that they can have a PC who is a member of the AFD faction as well as a PC in one other Law faction.
