And the things you can’t remember tell the things you can’t forget that history puts a saint in every dream.
The son of a cop who died on-duty, Joshua had a chip on his shoulder from a young age. He blamed everyone for his problems but himself. His crimes started small, and grew and grew as he did. He was in and out of Juvie, and then finally went to prison in his 20's for three years for assault. Then, in his thirties he went back for almost the entire decade for assault with a deadly weapon, coupled with trespassing. He was a disgrace for the family, really.
All those years in jail changed him, though. He doesn't often talk about what he went through in there (Though he is a man of few words, anyways), but whatever it was reshaped him. he came out a man of strong, if quiet and humble faith, and with a strong need to help others around him change as well. He opened Sadie's Diner & Juice Bar almost a decade ago, though it has recently been reopened after a few years being closed. He hires at-risk youths and other people who need help. He can be hard on them sometimes, but always to help them grow.
Oh, and he also works hard to 'save' supernaturals, too. He is a Hunter...who does not really hunt. As a member of the Merciful he hopes to bring supernatural creatures onto the side of good, and possibly even finding a cure for their conditions. In addition, for the last 10 years he has been providing backalley medical care for Hunters, and for other people who need it. He is damn good, too.
When somebody claims that people do not change, they should look at Joshua. Joshua has changed, and he believes others can, too. Joshua Thorpe doesn't talk much about his past, but anyone who was around anytime between the 1960's and 1990's would like remember the hellion. He was a violent addict, and he did not care who got in his way.
