"Any loss of identity prompts people to seek reassurance and rediscovery of themselves by testing, and even by violence. Today, the electric revolution, the wired planet, and the information environment involve everybody in everybody to the point of individual extinction.
- Marshall McLuhan, in a letter to Clare Westcott'
Jessica Cavanaugh is the youngest of a pair of siblings born to the expansive Cavanaugh line. She was raised in Fall Coast, born with a silver spoon in her mouth, and had the privileged life that such things bring with it. When she turned 14 she was sent away to complete her upbringing, attending a private high school in the southern reaches of Georgia and picking up more than a little of that deep south accent in the process. After a year back at home she went off to Berkley to get her Bachelor's in Journalism - which she never really used.
That's also when the scandal for Jessica first started. She met a man named Derrick Black - one of her professors - and after a whirlwind romance, married him and spent the next several years away from home but in his company. Oh, sure, she sent post cards but she wasn't around much. And then...then Derrick died, Jessica took his estate and sold everything, and moved back home. Some whisper this is just the first death in a life as a black widow. Jessica moved back to Fallcoast after a year in "rehab," presumably to reconnect with her family, start her life over, and keep herself out of trouble in the summer of 2015.
In reality, Jessica's husband was really her Guardian mentor and his "death" was just the death of a persona he was using at the time. The marriage, and the year of rehab, were just a cover story while Jessica was undergoing her apprenticeship and her movement through the early veils of the Guardians. Once these were complete, Jessica moved back home, bought a ranch outside the city, and opened a safe house. Reconnecting with her siblings, the trip founded the cabal known as Ad Astra, and Jessica has gone about a quiet vigil as a Guardian of the Veil.
Jessica is a woman of many masques, and she's just as likely to turn up on at a yacht club party as she is to slum it with her favorite Skinner druglord-wannabe. She has a face for every occasiona and a near-magical ability to blend in to nearly any group. If you want to RP, just let me know where you'd like to meet and I'll think of a reason to be there, and how to best blend in to the situation. Don't be afraid to ask!
"I don't blame the average seventeen-year-old punk-rock kid for calling me a sellout. I understand that. And maybe when they grow up a little bit, they'll realize there's more things to life than living out your rock & roll identity so righteously."

"So it’s that same old shit again. If it ain’t my neighbours complaining about my kicking bass. It’s the fucking media telling me my music is attracting the worst kinds. Highlighting the drug use and aggressive sounds. These cunts just don’t know nothing about clubbing the late-night raves. So let me tell you this, motherfuckers: Not everybody listens to Mr. Williams. When my generation parties, we do it 25.000 strong. So people can say what they want, but this is all real. And you know this is true. So just let me listen to my music, and fuck you!"
