Overview

xxxxxBy the grace of God, August 12th, 1358 A.H.

xxxxxI put these words down as best I can remember, though the lens of time has already begun to dull these memories. After the war in the east, where the Ottomans have pushed the unbelievers back towards Wien, I was put into torpor for the first time, and experienced the true curse of my kind. I am lucky, then, that at least some of my writings from before have remained. What is left of me tries to piece it together, but alas, the nights are dark, and I fear God has forsaken me.

xxxxxThese past few months Leila has cared for me, even as her body has withered and passion dimmed. The Prince's huntsman I can still remember clearly, but some of the details of my early life seem distant, as though I were listening to my memories over an echoing hall. Were it not for my letter and this journal, I might not know some things at all.

xxxxxLeila, praise God, has been an attentive servant. I rose from my slumber no more an honorable man than the one that laid to rest, and when she offered her daughter to me I drank. And drank. Until she was no more. When the wailing grew too much for me, I slaked my thirst upon her mother as well.

xxxxxI am a damned soul. If Hell is worse than this, God have mercy on me, then I will live forever simply to stave off one mere moment in that place.

xxxxx- Ibrahim ibn Mustafa al Turk ibn Whalid al Arabe

Contacts

Rulers of the Damned:

Aleera:

The Veiled - Fellow Knight of the Line, unerringly polite. I enjoy her company.

Templeton:

The Crusader: A fellow Knight of the Line. We have shed our blood in the same sand, for the same purpose.

Efram:

The Gentleman - A man who would be a Knight someday. To wit, diplomacy is as fine a blade as steel, yet cuts twice as deep.

The Damned:

Neferet:

The Sunlit Shadow - An intriguing conversationalist and a fellow member of the Court. Oddly, I find myself with more in common with her than not. Strange for a Carthian.

Francis:

The Chess Master - A man whom I respect.

Ashlyn:

The Sheriff - Young and perhaps headstrong, but of interest.

The Kine:

Ariella:

None Yet - A young woman of exceptional talent, and loss.

Summer:

None Yet - Charming, I can see what Efram sees in her.

The Departed:

Adalet:

Starlight - Death changes us. Sometimes our own. Sometimes another's. We have become monsters, yet I do not fear it.

Anthony:

None Yet - Many paths have we tread, and many times our blades were drawn. This is but one more.

Julieta:

Charlemagne - Wits are as fine a weapon as any blade.

Arslan:

The Dervish - The wanderer, the huntsmaster. So few escape your notice, but together, none escape our wrath.

Abd al Haqq:

The Hand: An old friend, and a fellow Muslim. He saved my unlife, in nights long since passed. Perhaps someday I will return the favor.

Caprice:

A Kind Heart: I hope your heart never grows cold.

Allegra:

A Voice in the Darkness: You aided me once, more than you know. What you loaned me steeled my heart and guided my footsteps.
