Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #1

You climb
Out the chimney
And meet me in the middle
The middle of the town
And since there's
No one else around
We let our hair grow long
And forget
All we used to know
Then our skin gets thicker from
Living out in the snow

Sara Bareilles - Winter Song

They say that things
Just cannot grow
Beneath the winter snow
Or so I have been told

Bangles - Hazy Shade of Winter

I look around
Leaves are brown, now
And the sky
Is a hazy shade of winter
Look around
Leaves are brown
There's a patch of snow
On the ground

Overview

Diana Hughes traveled to Fallcoast in August 2017 to take over a property she purchased by mysterious means. She usually goes by Dina.

Frost

Old hoary Frost, Lord of Winter, rules a land of ice and snow. Tall mountains, craggy ice-slick rocks, deep rifts filled with snow. Ice wolves obey him, guarding the realm. Keeping things out. Keeping things in, like Frost's servants.

Plucked from the coldest places on earth, Frost gathers them for his realm. Most die in the cold, lungs choked with frost, lips and extremities blue. Running, howling, into the night to be cut down by the knife of winter.

Some adapt to the cold. Some survive.

And, once, one escaped.

What Was Lost

A little girl born in a land far over the sea had a mother who was an avid gardener and a father who taught science. She grew up fascinated by plants and became a botanist. She left home to study plant life in Antarctica and one day she disappeared out in the snow.

What came back wasn't her.

RP Hooks
Changeling: A Snowskin... with a peculiar need to leech warmth from others.
Winter: Sadness and sorrow. Cold is home.
Goodwill: Dina is a known ally to the Spring, Summer, and Autumn Courts as well (Goodwill 1).
Gardening: Yes, please. A favourite activity, if somewhat odd for someone attuned to the element of ice.
Botany: In her life before being Taken, Dina was a botanist of some skill.
Greenhouse: She has one. She grows the mundane plants herself, and supplies local shops and businesses.
Goblin Fruit: Dina is something of an expert when it comes to Goblin Fruit.
Hollow: Dina tends the Greenhouse Hollow in the Hedge, accessible through her mortal dwelling as well as the Whispering Woods. So far she cultivates murmurleaf, amaranthine, coupnettle, and snowberries, which are a type of glamour-restoring fruit. Dina is, of course, interested in procuring more species.
Phytotherapy: It's not herbalism because it's science. Dina is good with natural remedies.
Tea: What's tea but a bunch of leaves and flowers and things dried up and mixed together? Dina enjoys tea and makes a few blends.
Dog Person: Dina is good with canines. She gets along with them real well.
Ice Wolf: She may have rescued an ice wolf hedgebeast pup when she escaped Arcadia. He needs walkies, and he's less conspicuous in the Hedge. Having grown out of the puppy stage, he is now an adolescent and a lot less cute. To mortal eyes, he looks like a young but large wolf, gangly and not quite full-grown. Lost can see the witch-lit blue glow of the beast's eyes, and see the frost on the fur on his back and his cold, wintry breath. Dina tends to speak to the ice wolf in Russian and addresses it as 'Volk', which means wolf.
Russian: PS, Dina knows Russian.
Archery: Dina has come to realize that Volk should do the heavy lifting in combat. She should stand back with a bow, which is what she is learning to do.

Mask

Dina stands 5'7 tall. Her eyes are light brown and her hair falls in tawny waves past her shoulders. On first impression, she generally comes across as composed, or even aloof.

Dina tends to wear comfortable clothing and favours various shades of gray and blue in terms of colour. While she might wear a necklace or earrings, she never wears rings.

Mien

Dina stands 5'7" tall and cuts a striking figure with her snow-white hair, glacial blue eyes, and dark blue lips. She might rival some Fairest, but she is an Elemental: a Snowskin, to be exact. On first impression, she generally comes across as composed, or even aloof.

Dina tends to wear comfortable clothing and favours various shades of gray and blue in terms of colour. While she might wear a necklace or earrings, she never wears rings.

Dina's seeming seems stark. When working magic, her mantle carries the sharp bite of winter chill and manifests delicate snowflakes. Her skin is cool to the touch. Please don't touch.
